For professional teeth whitening, there are two types – In-chair Whitening and Take-Home Whitening. For In-chair Whitening you are able to see some noticeable results in one visit. While for Take-Home Whitening, our dentist will create a custom made tray for you to whiten at home. Different from the over the counter home whitening kits you can buy online, the custom made trays will fit perfectly for your mouth leaving no gaps or pockets for an even surface. However, for take-home whitening, the patient needs to be diligent and wear it for at least 1 hour per day for around 3-4 days on average to see results.
That’s why a lot of patients decide to go with In-chair Whitening, where you can see the result within 2 hours. The dental clinician will protect the gums with a gel barrier that quickly hardens. They will be able to apply the higher concentrating agent, which is only available to dental surgeries and using a blue light machine to activate the ingredient.
